An extraordinary event is set to take place in Tewkesbury Abbey on Saturday 22 September. Robert Fripp, the celebrated guitarist and founder member of the progressive rock group, King Crimson, has created a new work – Pie Jesu – with his writing partner Andrew Keeling – and it is due to be premiered by Excelsa Voces.
Robert Fripp has been voted one of the world’s top guitarists and has collaborated or performed with the likes of Brian Eno, David Bowie, Peter Gabriel and Blondie
Excelsa Voces, formed by its musical director Paula Evans and Chris Long in 2016, has been stunning audiences with the purity of their sound and the immersive experience they give audiences. They specialise in a mixture of early music and contemporary compositions.
Based in Pershore, the group which comprises seven women singers, has been touring the region and has recently returned from a well-received trip to the Edinburgh Festival. They regularly perform alongside keyboards musician and composer, Chris Long and cellist Tom McMahon. The event promises to be both an audio and visual experience, with a lighting design to enhance the atmosphere.
