The Tuery Sessions #2 Featuring Grey Wolf and Aidan Byrne

Back to Events Edit Page Report
Date:Sunday, 14 February 2016Location:Cross Keys, Alcester
Time:6.00pmCost:Free
Hot on the heels of last month’s debut Tuery Sessions, we have another fantastic free night of live music in store on February 14th from 6pm at the The Cross Keys, Alcester. Whether you’re feeling the Valentines Day love or coming to drown your sorrows, we’ll have ya covered.

Grey Wolf, one of the UK’s premier exponents of Bluegrass, American Old-Time and Country Music will get you ‘bitten ‘n’ smitten’ with their authentically rooted, sometimes irreverent sound. From love songs, old spirituals to murder ballads, there’ll be something to suit the moods of everyone, whether that be a tug at the heartstrings or a dark tale of a jilted lover.
Spearheaded by Jim Allen, one of the UK’s most highly regarded banjo players and teachers, Grey Wolf are a regular sight at roots music venues and festivals across the UK and can even count Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant as a fan, having backed him on stage on several occasions.

Following his barnstorming performance as frontman of Aidan and the Wildfires in the last Tuery Sessions, we’re giving you another chance to hear the soulful husky tones of Aidan Byrne Music in a solo setting. Expect a mix of inspired interpretations of familiar favourites side by side with Americana-infused originals, all delivered with that age-defying Delta rasp that brings to mind being soaked in a vat of bourbon and then left to hang in the smokehouse for a few months.

As it worked so beautifully last time, the evening will once again finish with a jam. This is a great opportunity to see top musicians working outside their comfort zones, occasionally falling flat on their arses, but more often than not coming up with inspired one-off performances and creating beautiful noises together.

All that plus a raffle. If music be the food of love, rock on.
