This is the best tourist promotional site I have seen. I have never heard of Alcester, and found the site by coincidence. But on the basis of this site I and my wife have planned a visit. Congratulations on your fine product. John Loughlin

Alcester is an ancient Roman town in a beautiful part of south-west Warwickshire, England with a population of around 9000.

Alcester is a great alternative to Stratford on Avon which can be too busy and commercialised for many people visiting Shakespeare country. The town is situated just 7 miles (11km) west of Stratford on Avon and has good transport links, plenty of accommodation and many attractions of its own.

The original settlement dates back at least to Roman times and there are many archaeological sites of interest in the town and surrounding area. The high street is reminiscent of a by gone era and preserved Tudor cottages and other historical buildings are dotted throughout. Find out more about the history of Alcester.

Today Alcester is a thriving rural town with lots to offer its residents and the many visitors we have throughout the year.More about Alcester.
